Are you looking for a legal internship as practical preparation for the bar exam? Then you have come to the right place at the Staatsanwaltschaft des Kantons Bern.

At the Staatsanwaltschaft Bern-Mittelland, an internship position is to be assigned on various start dates. The internship lasts 6 months with an employment degree of 100%.

Your tasks

• Independently drafting and editing indictments, decisions not to proceed, and discontinuance orders
• Preparing requests for legal assistance and penal orders
• Legal clarifications in all criminal law issues
• Preparing and documenting interrogations, objection hearings, and settlement negotiations
• Accompanying prosecutors to court hearings and on-call duties
• Monitoring visits of remand prisoners

Your profile

A prerequisite for a legal internship is the successful completion of a master's degree in law. You are interested in criminal law and criminal procedure law, possess quick comprehension, and are characterized by a structured and efficient way of working. You are also resilient and flexible. Due to your communicative and open nature, it is easy for you to integrate into a team. You are a native German speaker with confident expression.

We offer you

As an intern at a regional Staatsanwaltschaft, you will process cases of adult criminal law in close cooperation with the prosecutors, for which the respective regional Staatsanwaltschaft is locally and substantively responsible based on the place of the offense. The crimes to be investigated include all offenses of the Strafgesetzbuch, from insult to theft to murder, as well as secondary criminal law, namely road traffic and narcotics offenses. During the internship, you will generally receive (regional differences possible) the opportunity, within the framework of the prosecutorial on-call service, to respond to an extraordinary death, participate in a house search, and -- with corresponding interest -- attend an autopsy.
