The research group "Transformation Design" is oriented towards the challenges and opportunities in the context of socio-ecological transformation. At CC TD, we understand design research as an inherently inter- and transdisciplinary research approach that responds to and co-determines social changes. Questions of sustainability, digitalization, and the role of design determine the approaches and procedures. The research topics include, among others, social and digital inequalities, digital cultures, intersectional-feminist theories, and common good orientation. In participatory and collaborative projects, we address significant social upheavals or changes. We are looking for a Research Intern for three months, starting October 1, 2026. Your tasks Active support in the organization and implementation of research projects Research on the research topics digital participation, digital sovereignty, ethics, and AI Collaboration on methods and materials for Experimental AI and Tiny LLMs for participatory workshops Support in the conception and implementation of workshops on the topic of AI in research Documentation and preparation of texts and graphic representations Support in the preparation of communication measures Your profile You are a student in a design master's program and want to gain insights into the research routine and scientific work? You are interested in digital participation, digital sovereignty, and AI applications at the interface to social and sustainable design (e.g., design, art, media design, architecture, or similar areas)? You bring general interest and enthusiasm for science (theory and practice-based research) and enjoy engaging in transformative and participatory research? You have basic knowledge in Physical Computing and interest in Critical Making, in the co-development and design of interactive prototypes? You have practical experience with AI-based applications (AlpineAI, Anthropic, Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, or similar – own suggestions and alternatives to proprietary systems and applications are welcome)? You work well in teams and are open to new perspectives and topics? You enjoy actively contributing your own topics, knowledge, and perspectives? The research internship is an instrument to support the scientific junior staff at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences - Design Film Art. Through active participation in a research group, participants gain in-depth insights into ongoing projects, exchange with experienced researchers and are accompanied by targeted mentoring in their personal and professional development as well as in the orientation of their own research project.
