Work where democracy is concretely implemented. Become part of an interdisciplinary team that leads the conduct of the 2027 National Council and Council of States elections in the Canton of Bern and contribute to the further development of the legislation on political rights. Here you will gain valuable professional experience in an environment that combines law and politics.

Your tasks

• Collaboration in the preparation and conduct of the 2027 National Council and Council of States elections
• Accompanying the revision of the political rights legislation
• Supporting the Political Rights Department in day-to-day business (inquiries, motions, etc.)

Your profile

• Advanced or already successfully completed Master's/Bachelor's studies, preferably in law
• Very good knowledge of public law and the political system of Switzerland and the Canton of Bern
• Rapid comprehension and independent way of working
• High oral as well as written communication skills in German and ideally also in French

About the State Chancellery

The Office for Government Support and Political Rights (ARP) is a staff unit of the Government Council and a liaison office to the Grand Council. The ARP provides numerous services, including authenticating documents and organizing the conduct of elections and votes. Furthermore, the ARP ensures the preparation and follow-up of Government Council meetings and the processing of legal questions within the jurisdiction of the State Chancellery.

The State Chancellery is a versatile service provider at the interface between politics, administration, and the public. It is a staff unit of the Government Council and a liaison office to the Grand Council. In doing so, it plans, supports, and coordinates the activities of these authorities and provides numerous services for the administration and the population.
