Intern in financial planning and treasury (80% to 100%)

The Finance Department of the City of Lausanne is responsible for the financial and accounting management of the City. It ensures the steering of budgetary processes (operating and investment), budgetary monitoring, and the account closing procedure in collaboration with the Administration Directorates. We wish to welcome an intern at Master's level to contribute to the work of financial planning, treasury, and financial risk management, as well as to the development of associated steering and Business Intelligence tools.

Depending on training requirements, possibility to complete a Master's thesis related to the internship themes.

Duration

Internship contract for a duration of 6 to 12 months

Main mission(s)

Contribute to the development of financial planning and Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau or equivalent), allowing for the linking of accounts, budgets, investments, treasury, and debt

Participate in the monitoring and forecasting of the City's cash flows and the analysis of the main factors influencing liquidity and financing needs

Contribute to prospective analyses related to debt and financing, particularly concerning the trajectory and structure of debt as well as future financing needs

Participate in the analysis of financial risks, notably interest rate and foreign exchange risks, and the evaluation of different hedging strategies

Contribute, with the relevant Directorates, to the analysis of certain financial flows and exposures, particularly in connection with the electricity and gas markets

Contribute to the documentation of treasury and financial planning processes as well as to the identification of possibilities for improvement, reliability, or automation

Profile

Master's student in finance, economics, management or training deemed equivalent

Good analytical skills and an interest in finance, data, and Business Intelligence

Familiarity with accounting and financial analysis concepts

Very good command of excel

Mastery of Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau or equivalent), as well as notions of SQL, databases or automation, are an asset

Special conditions

Gross monthly salary of CHF 2'000.- for 100%
