The Sozialamt of the Canton Schaffhausen fulfills overarching tasks in the areas of social assistance, victim support, and advance maintenance payments. It is responsible for the authorization, financing, and supervision of institutions for adults with disabilities as well as for inpatient child and youth services. Additionally, it operates the specialist office for equality, violence prevention, and protection against violence. Furthermore, the department performs tasks in the asylum and refugee sector on behalf of the Confederation.

• Accompanying persons from the asylum and refugee sector in their linguistic, professional, and social integration
• Collaboration in case management as well as personal and economic social assistance according to cantonal guidelines
• Counseling of refugees and triage into need-based offers
• Provision of information on various areas of life
• Cooperation and networking with specialist offices, authorities, volunteers, as well as course providers
• Participation in the further development of the social counseling and integration area
• Practical guidance and professional support in daily work according to the requirements of the Fachhochschule

What you bring with you

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Social Work at a Fachhochschule
• Interest in the topics of social counseling, economic social assistance, and integration
• Enjoyment in engaging with people from different cultures
• Structured, independent, and careful way of working
• High communication skills as well as confident oral and written expression
• Empathy, resilience, assertiveness, ability to work in a team
• Good user knowledge of MS-Office
