Are you looking for a legal internship as practical preparation for the bar exam? Then you have come to the right place at the Staatsanwaltschaft of the Canton of Bern.

At the Staatsanwaltschaft Oberland in Thun, an internship position is to be assigned on various start dates. The internship lasts 6 months with an employment level of 80-100%.

Your tasks

• Create dismissal, non-prosecution, and suspension orders
• Formulate facts and determine sanctions for penal orders
• Prepare and protocol interrogations
• Legal clarifications regarding the General and Special Part of the Criminal Code, secondary criminal legislation, as well as criminal procedural law
• Accompanying prosecutors to court hearings and on-call assignments
• Reviewing dossiers to determine further procedural steps
• Research work
• Drafting correspondence in international mutual legal assistance requests
• Drafting indictments and closing arguments

Your profile

A prerequisite for a legal internship is the successful completion of a legal Master's degree. You are interested in criminal and criminal procedural law, possess quick comprehension skills, and are characterized by a structured and efficient way of working. Additionally, you are resilient and flexible. Due to your communicative and open nature, it is easy for you to integrate into a team. You are a native German speaker with stylistically confident expression.

We offer you

As an intern at a regional Staatsanwaltschaft, you will work in close cooperation with the prosecutors to process cases of adult criminal law for which the respective regional Staatsanwaltschaft is locally and materially responsible based on the place of the offense. The crimes to be investigated include all offenses of the Criminal Code from insult and theft to murder, as well as secondary criminal law, namely road traffic and narcotics offenses. During the internship, you will generally receive (regional differences possible) the opportunity, as part of the prosecutorial on-call service, to respond to an extraordinary death, participate in a house search, and -- with corresponding interest -- attend an autopsy.
