Internship Social Work (100%, incl. 1 day school)

Start of employment: 1. February 2027 Place of work: Biel The Youth Advocacy Office Region Berner Jura-Seeland is seeking, as of 1. February 2027 until 31. July 2027 (also possible as a yearly internship), a committed individual for an internship in social work. Your tasks In the context of an interdisciplinary work environment, the social workers of the Youth Advocacy Office Berner Jura-Seeland, together with the procedure managers, are significantly involved in case management. They conduct investigations into the personal circumstances of the young people and thus gain a comprehensive insight into the living conditions of the young people. Cause and explanation models are worked out, which, together with the results of the investigations, form the basis for further action. In cooperation with the young people and their legal representatives, goals for measures are formulated, which are evaluated periodically and, if necessary, adjusted. During the ambulatory or stationary implementation of measures, in addition to care and support tasks, organizational and administrative activities are also carried out. Collaboration with parents, schools, training companies, specialist and government agencies, as well as ambulatory and stationary institutions, is an important part of daily work. After an introductory phase, there is the opportunity to independently manage a dossier. You are communicative and contact-friendly and have a stylistically secure way of expressing yourself in German. You also have sufficient knowledge of French to be able to communicate in a bilingual team (practical guidance and case work take place in the German-speaking team). Your profile As a social worker in training, you will conduct an investigation into the personal circumstances during a criminal investigation under professional guidance and supervision. You will provide ongoing reports and submit necessary applications to the competent youth advocate. In cooperation with the young people and their legal representatives, you will seek adequate solutions, which may result in support in finding a new place to live, a training or job position, a therapy place, etc. You will participate in entrance, status, and exit interviews, ensure the flow of information for all parties involved, keep the care journal, and evaluate the implementation goals in cooperation with the young people. You will accompany social workers during external conversations and get to know a variety of ambulatory and stationary youth facilities. Within the framework of weekly practical discussions, your own work will be reflected upon and the connection between theory and practice will be established. Furthermore, you will gain a comprehensive insight into the legal framework conditions of both the Juvenile Justice Act and the Juvenile Justice Procedure Act and can attend individual hearings and verdict announcements.
